FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Geodesic dome construction processes and customization options

Off-Gassing Process

The off-gassing process for our eco-friendly foam insulation is complete within 4 hours of application, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment in your new dome home shortly after construction.

Foam as Vapor Barrier

The foam acts as an effective vapor barrier at a thickness of 2 inches, providing excellent moisture control and enhancing the overall insulation properties of your dome.

Waterproof Foam Insulation

Yes, the foam insulation we use is 100% waterproof on its own, protecting your dome from moisture penetration and contributing to the longevity and durability of the structure.

Protecting Foam Insulation

To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the foam insulation, it needs to be either painted or covered. This protective layer shields the foam from UV light and physical damage, preserving its insulating properties.

Foundation Options

We offer two main foundation options: stabilized earth bag and concrete. Both foundations provide a sturdy base for your dome, with choices depending on your sustainability preferences, budget, and site conditions.

Window Sizes and Placement

Depending on the frame and design of your dome, some window sizes and placements are more ideal than others. We provide guidance on maximizing natural light while ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Dome Comparisons

The main differences lie in the curvature and surface area of the domes. A 5/8 dome provides a balance between spaciousness and efficiency, whereas 1/2 and 3/8 domes offer different profiles, impacting interior volume and potential use cases.

Dome Frequencies

Dome frequencies refer to the subdivision of the dome's surface, affecting its curvature and structural strength. Higher frequencies are better suited for larger domes or those requiring more strength, while lower frequencies are adequate for smaller, more compact designs.

Recommended Size for Two-Story Homes

For a two-story home, we recommend a V3 5/8 dome with a diameter of 36 feet. This size provides ample space for comfortable living, optimal structural integrity, and efficient use of materials.

Service Area

Currently, our service area includes Cochise County, AZ. We're dedicated to providing exceptional service and craftsmanship to residents within this region, ensuring that each dome home is built to the highest standards.
